My family connection to the Liverpool Markets way of life go’s back to my Grandad and family members working the old Fish and Produce markets of Liverpool City Centre in the 40’s 50’s and 60’s, my own personal involvement with the Liverpool markets way of life is working as a fruit and veg delivery driver in the late 1970’s picking up fruit and veg in the early morning hours at the Edge Lane Fruit and Veg market and delivering and selling fruit and veg to shops, cafes, fruit markets, chippies, hotels, greengrocers and every other establishment going who relied on fresh farm produce to make a living in every part of Liverpool, Birkenhead and Wallasey 6 days a week, ending on a Saturday selling fruit and veg on a market stall at the legendary Great Homer Street (Greatie) street market.
A collection of individual photo galleries showing the way of life at the long gone legendary Great Homer Street Market (Greatie), the long gone Stanley Dock Sunday Heritage Market, the long gone St Johns Precinct food hall, the long gone Edge Lane fruit market and Sunday car boot sale, the London Road market, the Bootle Merton Sunday car boot sale, the new Greatie Market, the Tuebrook Market and car boot sale.. and more I’ll mention when they come back to me.
